Predicting the Power of Icebreakers
By using this simulation model, we can predict ice breaker's ice breaking ability, stress/strain, deformation, pressure map with given parameters including ice coverage percentage, ship body structure, ice shape, ship speeds etc. The model can also predict ship resistance in the ocean with fragmented ice. These numerical models can greatly reduce the time and cost for evaluating the performance of designed icebreakers upon collisions with ice.
